Food So Good We Will Go Back For A ‘Sitty In`

Evening Telegraph Header

There was just two of us for tea and neither wanted to cook, so I thought it was time to introduce my other half to the delights of Bombay Joe’s.

The restaurant sits above street level in the Ferry and although the entrance is a lovely staircase, he’d managed to never notice it.

We popped in to order food and had a good look at the extensive menu, finally opting for chicken pakora, a lamb bhuna, a chicken special korma, pilau rice and an peshwari naan bread.

There was a wee wait as the food is freshly prepared so we read up on the special offers – high teas, three courses for £14, buy a curry get one half-price on Tuesdays, certainly enough on offer – and admired the attractive seating area.

The staff member was very friendly and helpful too. The food was piping hot and very plentiful. I have never seen so many pakoras in a portion, they were in double figures and although not huge they were big enough.

The special korma had nuts through it and lots of sauce and tender chicken and the lamb bhuna didn’t disappoint either, but some of the bits of lamb were better than others.

I thought we had been given the wrong naan bread as I’m used to peshwari bread coming in all sorts of colours, however, I soon found the coconut and it tasted lovely.

We were even given a discount coupon to use and judging by this successful visit we will most likely use it too.
